well, this week i shot a political commercial (spit), and i decided to try shooting polaroids on the set, to check exposure.
what it seemed really good for though, was being able to walk away from the set, and think about the lighting. seeing the set in a photo, as opposed to a room was really neat - it gave me a few extra ideas with regards to the lighting. cool!
i shot 100 speed polaroid film on a medium format camera with a polaroid back. the spot is anamorphic 35mm, kodak 5277 (vision 320T) which is pretty low contrast. i was at T2.8 all day, which is a little hectic focus-wise in anamorphic, but everything came out razor sharp.
comparison photos below. in the first photo, the producer is standing in for the actor. on the phone, of course . . .




i've got another political coming up on tuesday. i'm bring the polaroid for that one too.

Awesome stuff. The polaroid looks slightly more contrasty and dark, but that's a good thing, because it means you know the absolute minimum you'll get, and you'll probably get more.
